After the United States nearly shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic, nature vacations became increasingly popular. However, traditional camping is not appealing to everyone. Being in the great outdoors is no easy ordeal. Because of this, “glamping” has become a popular traveling trend. Glamping is a mix of the words “glamorous” and “camping”. As the name implies, it is camping with an increased comfort level. This method of camping has attracted many people, particularly millennials and generation-z because of its stress-free allure. 

Staying in a cabin in Scotland has put me on team glamping as well. Having a gorgeous view of the outdoors without having to worry about insects, food supply, or the weather was an incredibly relaxing experience. I’m not the only one who thought so; 48% of people who took part in a glamping survey were millennials (Barber). What makes glamping different from camping is access to kitchens, bathrooms, wifi, food, air conditioning, and more. Many people now have the opportunity to work remotely after the pandemic. This type of vacationing is now attainable to these people because of wifi access.

Another recent trend among younger travelers is backpacking. Like glamping, terms like “flashpacking” have risen, short for flashy packing. The idea of traveling through a location at one’s own pace is attractive to travelers. Solo trips without a set plan is a way to save money while vacationing. Travelers can even travel more comfortably with a bigger budget.
